Our Founder

Debra Nettles Woodard

Debra’s love and dedication to children has spanned over several decades and has included her being a big sister in the Big Brothers-Big Sisters Program. She has also served as a Preschool Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Choir Musician and has brightened many hearts and minds entertaining children for several schools and hospitals. As a working mother, Debra realized first hand that parents can often use a little help fostering their children’s self esteem and reminding them of just how special they are.

As a child, Debra would often daydream about having a huge house called the Sunshine House where kids who were sad, homeless or felt unloved would always be welcomed and loved. Debra never gave up on her dream to share her love with children. Determined to let all children know just how precious they are, her childhood dream of the Sunshine House evolved into The Sunshine Factory, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all children, regardless of economic status, realize their greatness and believe that they too can reach their full potential.
